exploring: mass ave

Ever since I moved out here the one place I was told to visit was Massachusetts Ave.  From food to shopping Mass Ave was said to have it all.  I had wanted to check it out but constantly made excuses to not venture out there.  This past weekend I was visited by a few friends from back home and it seemed like the perfect chance to explore a new place.
Mass ave didn't let us down.

fall bucket list 2014

With Summer on its way out I feel it is necessary to make a list of the things I hope to do between now and the Holidays.  Moving out here I knew I would have plenty of options with so many farms and orchards in the area so my biggest obstacle will be figuring out where exactly to go!

- Make my favorite crock pot apple cider

- Go to a corn maze

- Go to a Haunted House

- Go on a hayride

- Throw a Halloween Party

- Bake a pie from scratch

- Bake bread

- All day scary movie-thon

- Read a new horror novel (I am hoping to try Horns by Joe Hill)

- Learn a new Soup recipe

- Early morning donuts and hot chocolate with friends

monthly favs: july 2014

This month was fairly uneventful as far as Summer months go.  While I spent most of my time looking forward to all the things I have planned for August, that doesn't mean I have nothing to share for July.

5 non-makeup beauty essentials

When Katherine suggested this topic for this month's Post Pals idea it seemed easy until I really thought about it.  While I love getting beauty supplies I change my routine so often that it was hard for me to figure out what I deemed essential.  Some are fairly new additions to my routine, others are ones I forget about but always go back to, and others are ones I use every day.

monthly favs: june 2014

This start to Summer has been pretty great so far.  With a new job I have been keeping busy and finally have an income so I will be able to start doing more things during my spare time. Not many photos this time, but I still have plenty of things to talk about this month.

exploring: greenwood farmer's market

This morning the weather was perfect: sunny but not hot and just a bit breezy.  I decided to take this opportunity to get back to exploring the local area.  Back in PA, one of my favorite things to do on a nice Saturday morning was to go into town for the local Farmer's Market so today felt like a great day to do that near my new home.

There are quite a few markets near by but I decided to venture into Greenwood since I go through it a lot and am pretty familiar with.  This market was larger than the one I was used to but not so much that it felt overwhelming.  There was a fantastic variety of foods and goods from standard produce, to meats, to crafts, to flowers.  I had gone with the intention of picking up some flowers for our table but ended up getting distracted with all of the food.

The people were all so nice and friendly.  It was obvious how proud everyone was of what they had to sell. I ended up leaving with a jar of Very Berry jam, a fresh loaf of bread, and a zucchini.  Next time I will go with a recipe or two in mind so I have a better idea of what to get, but I know I am going to enjoy these wonderful foods and I know I will be going back soon.

my 5 wardrobe essentials

I have always been one to try and evolve my style.  Each year seemed to bring about its own theme or style.  After college graduation I kicked it into over drive and seemed to change what clothes I liked every few weeks sometimes preferring feminine, others a more androgynous look.  This resulted in me throwing clothes in a donation bag in my attic only to dig them out again in a month.

Wanting to look more adult I would often look up list of wardrobe essentials for women my age, but seldom wear some of the items.  While I like the idea of well-fitting blazers and sky-high heels each day, the fact is I won't wear those things for most of my daily activities or errands.  This list consists of what I consider my Top 5 wardrobe items, most of which actually evolved from old phases in my life. These are the things I always feel confident and comfortable in.
